Sewing for a Good Cause in 2nd!

The 2nd grade Dragons have been working a hard and having so much fun sewing stuffies for kids coming out of detention centers on the border.  

Serious Snow Science in 2nd

All of this amazing snow calls for some snow science.  So much to learn! The molecular structure of water, how snowflakes form, hexagons, and the states of matter...

Snow falling during school  time is a rare treat.  We went outside to examine snowflakes... 

Then we built snowflakes using base ten blocks.  The catch: count up the blocks to determine how much your snowflake is worth!

They transferred their image onto wood.  Most of them turned out! Seeing the process was a learning experience for all...myself included.
