Dragons in the Morning: Writing Workshop...Kid Art Rocks.

We start each day with Writing Workshop.  The Drawings and ideas that come out of this time inspire me every day.

Birthdays and Student of the Month!

Happy Birthday to Neenah and Jasper!

...and congratulations to the First Grade Dragon of the Month: Jasper Avina!

Singular and Plural Nouns...and the Verbs They Love.

A couple of weeks ago the First Grade Dragons tackled singular and plural nouns and noun/verb agreement.  They rocked it!

We first learned the vocabulary through pictures, sorting, and games....

Then we practiced identifying singular and plural nouns and choosing the correct form of the action verb.

We played a game... Each kid received a baggie full of the words of one sentence.  The words were scrambled and there were two forms of the action verb.  The kids' job was to unscramble the sentence, choose the verb that agreed with the noun, and add punctuation.  They then took their beautiful sentence to Miss Rosalie to get their next baggie.  The kids were totally into it and they really got it.

There were three different colors of sentences for differentiation of reading levels...

Halloween Dragons!

Halloween is on a Monday this year...

It's going to be a wild week.  Here are the kiddos rocking their costumes before K-3 paraded around the Plaza.

With special guests!

Our Halloween Party was a blast!  We had three centers: counting pumpkins, a creepy critter craft, and "boo bubbles" (dry ice "smoke" filled bubbles...awesome!).

The boo bubbles are really amazing...

...and then we dined outside.  Here I am slicing into the horribly delicious Brain Cake.

Thank you to all of the parents who brought food and helped make the party rock!
