Winter Extravaganza!

First Grade was full of students from grades K-3
and snow buddies!

It was a treat to get to hang out with all kids in other grades who I don't usually get to spend time with.

We created "snow buddies" out of socks.  Pretty cute.

The Dragons visit the Harwood Museum!

We observed retablos and bultos in the Harwood's beautiful collection.  We sketched some of our favorites, paying close attention to details.  In the studio, we got to make our own retablos!  Scroll down to see incredible creations by the First Grade Dragons.

In the studio... watching Miss Jayne create her retablo using collage and drawing techniques.

We love Twirl!

Light and shadow play at Twirl Too.   The kids had a blast experimenting with opaque and transparent materials.  They each created beautiful shadow puppets that will be a part of a whole-school installation with Agnes Chavez!

Puppet Show Practice!

Hilarious and Strange Times in First Grade

The kids are working hard getting reading for their first play!  They wrote their own show and made their giant puppets and props.  Thank you Mr. John for directing these wild puppet shows!
